Building the Economy, One Home at a time
On March 18th, the Sacramento Regional Research Institute released its much-awaited
"The Economic Benefits of Housing in Washington" report. For years BIAW has touted
the importance of new home construction to the state economy, and now we have credible,
thorough numbers to support our argument. The report quantifes the economic impacts of
new home construction and the broader housing industry on the state economy, including
output, jobs, and local and state taxes. The report also studies the impact of
homebuilding on three regions: Puget Sound, Vancouver, and Spokane.
Designed for legislators and elected officials, these informational papers show how
homebuilding can save the state economy.
