Q: What phase changes involve construction?
A: As many counties apply to move through the four phases determined by Gov. Inslee, BIAW has received some questions about what this does to the residential construction industry and requirements as we reopen our state.
Currently, there are two phases for construction: Phase 1 and Phase 2. Where the confusion lies is that there is not any other changes in construction requirements when a county moves to Phase 3.
Rather, Phase 2 encompasses Phase 3, and there are no alterations to the requirements for you, your employees, and your jobsites as your county enters into Phase 3.
Q: What does the governor’s statewide mandate that all Washingtonians wear facial coverings in public mean for my business?
A: On Friday, June 26, 2020, the governor’s statewide mandate that all Washingtonians wear facial coverings in public went into effect. It is important to note that enforcement will only be taking place against businesses that serve customers not wearing masks. If you have showrooms, design centers, or other retail space, ensure that your employees understand that you face fines if they allow someone to enter your business not wearing a mask.
BIAW continues to participate in the governor’s working group for construction, and we hope that some modifications can be made in Phase 4. When and if that happens, we will be sure to share that information with you.
