Thank you, BIAW Associate Members!
September 20, 2021
A message from BIAW President Tracy Doriot, Certified Builder
September is National Associate Appreciation Month! All through the month, we’re celebrating the tremendous contributions of the more than 5,000 associate members of the BIAW.
Associate members are essential partners
Associate members make up about two-thirds of BIAW’s membership—and the numbers are similar at the national level.
Our associate members are essential to the success of home builders and remodelers all across our state and across the country. They work in subcontracting, specialty trades, retail and wholesale distributing and professional specialties. You can also find them in real estate, financial services, property management, manufacturing and consulting.
They provide valuable leadership and great connections in every community.
Members do business with members
As I mentioned in my July/August Building Insight President’s Message, members do business with members. From mortgage brokers and subcontractors to design specialists and insurance agents and everything in between, builders and remodelers look to BIAW associate members for a wealth of expertise to help us fulfill our mission to build the American dream for Washington families.
Associates stand with us
The business partnership is just part of the equation. Our dedicated associate members also stand with us when advocating for the residential building industry at all levels of government and in the courts. Whether testifying before the legislature or joining us in supporting a call to action, we count on their support.
Building a strong membership base
Members of the Associate Advisory Council can rise through the ranks to serve as senior officers in the roles of BIAW Secretary and Second Vice President. They lead the Past Second Vice Presidents’ Council, the Associate Advisory Council and the Membership Committee and support other state, local and national groups. And you can always count on them to throw an amazing Spike party!
Growing our membership helps build strength in advocating for our industry. I thank our associate members for this important work.
Celebrating leadership all year long
While BIAW and all our local associations join NAHB in celebrating Associate Member Appreciation Month each year in September, I’d like to encourage us to thank our associates all year long.
Associate Members: Please know how grateful we are for your membership, your leadership and all your contributions to our industry, our association and our state.
Today and every day, thank you!
