Bring in the signatures to protect natural gas and energy choice

June 17, 2024

With more than 120,000 initiative petitions in circulation, it’s time to bring in the signatures to protect natural gas and energy choice in Washington. Supporters have just a few weeks left to gather the 405,000 signatures they need to make sure Initiative 2066: Protect Energy Choice makes the November ballot.

I-2066 protects reliable, affordable energy choices like natural gas and propane and prohibits gas bans in Washington.

“For years, we’ve fought powerful political interests intent on eliminating natural gas as an energy choice,” said Greg Lane, Executive Vice President of the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW). “We know natural gas provides warmth and comfort to more than a million Washington homes. It’s also the lifeblood of thousands of restaurants and businesses.

“Initiative 2066 protects natural gas and propane as energy choices now and into the future and prohibits natural gas bans in any form, at any time and at any level of government in the state,” he said. “It’s time to bring in the signatures to get I-2066 on the ballot to prevent the continued attacks on this vital energy source.”

Supporters are working to collect 405,000 signatures by the July 5 deadline to get the measure on the November ballot.

Hundreds of locations to bring in signatures

There’s still time to sign I-2066. But it’s also time to bring in signed petitions, even if they’re not completely full. Every signature matters. We need to ensure they’re all returned in time to submit them to the Secretary of State’s office by the deadline.

Let’s Go Washington has partnered with BIAW and local associations to make it easier than ever!
