Join our energy choice advocates!
August 2, 2024
BIAW seeks members passionate about protecting natural gas for their families and their customers to join our team of energy choice advocates. BIAW’s Energy Choice Advocates will play a critical role in our efforts to remind voters to Vote YES on Initiative 2066.
Who can be an energy choice advocate?
- Builders and remodelers who can speak to the added costs to build and remodel in Washington under new energy codes and laws restricting and eventually banning the use of natural gas in new and existing construction.
- Real estate professionals who want to share their concerns about the effects of new natural gas mandates on families’ ability to sell their homes in the future.
- Subcontractors and suppliers ranging from HVAC businesses to fireplace shops and appliance retailers who can speak to what customers want and the effect of natural gas bans on their businesses.
- Green builders who will share how market-based approaches are better than mandates when it comes to transitioning to net-zero homes in Washington.
- Anyone who has a story about how energy choice makes Washington a better place to live and work.
What do energy choice advocates do?
- Share their stories to help voters understand why they should vote YES on I-2066.
- Help respond to media inquiries seeking professionals from our industry to speak on the benefits of Initiative 2066 to protect energy choice.
- Byline op-eds in their local media to share their perspectives on why people should vote yes on I-2066.
- Join media events or panels on I-2066 if needed.
Not every trained advocate will need to do any or all of these things. We would like to have a solid group of professionals ready to help if you are needed. It’s always okay to say no if you’re too busy!
