Federal vaccine mandate for larger private employers released
November 4, 2021
The U.S. Department of Labor this morning published the details of the Biden Administration’s new federal vaccine mandate. Developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the mandate directs all US employers with 100 or more employees to require all employees be vaccinated or undergo regular testing by Jan. 4.
While Washington is not an OSHA state, the federal vaccine mandate takes effect in Washington on Dec. 5. Gov. Jay Inslee has indicated he is considering a more stringent vaccination mandate for private employers in Washington, but we do not expect further details from the governor for a few more weeks.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) provides further details and analysis here.
BIAW Secretary Ryan Moore of Conover Insurance shared a helpful resource for compliance: Employer Guide to OSHAs COVID-19 Vaccination ETS. It includes details about the mandate, templates and more.
