Governor announces statewide reopening date of June 30, new mask guidance
May 14, 2021
Good news! The governor today announced the state is moving toward a statewide June 30 reopening date.
All counties move to Phase 3 starting May 18
All counties in Washington will move to Phase 3 of the Healthy WA: Roadmap to Recovery reopening plan effective May 18 until June 30.
Full re-opening could be earlier
The full reopening could happen earlier than June 30 if 70% or more of Washingtonians over the age of 16 initiate vaccination.
State following CDC guidance relaxing mask requirements
Washington will fully adopt new masking guidance issued by the CDC earlier today. This guidance allows fully vaccinated people to no longer wear a mask or physically distance with certain limitations. Businesses retain the right to require customers wear masks.
The governor’s announcement says the state will work with the Dept. of Labor & Industries to update guidance documents to reflect this as soon as possible.
What does this mean for construction?
In the meantime, until further notice, the construction industry is required to continue to adhere to the Construction COVID-19 Job Site Requirements first introduced in May 2020, including the masking requirements, regardless of vaccination status.
We will continue to follow this ever-evolving situation and keep you informed as things are updated or changed.
