Former BIAW leader Duke Schaub passed away Jan. 15, according to the Associated General Contractors Washington Chapter (AGCW).
Schaub served as BIAW Executive Vice President from 1973 to 1980. He joined AGC in a lobbying role in January 1981, and continued there for 26 years, many of those as director of state and national government affairs.
“Duke Schaub was a gentleman and extremely effective advocate for the entire construction industry for decades,” said BIAW Executive Vice President Greg Lane.
According to a profile in the Daily Journal of Commerce, Schaub said some of his biggest accomplishments involved construction and transportation issues. Even after his retirement, he continued consulting on transportation issues for AGC.
Schaub is survived by his wife Kitty, son Dan and granddaughter Sydney. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date, according to the AGC.
