Past president and long-time leader Dave Main joins BIAW Hall of Fame
November 29, 2021
BIAW 2021 President Tracy Doriot inducted past BIAW President and long-time leader Dave Main into BIAW’s Hall of Fame at the association’s Fall Installation Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Nov. 16. The Hall of Fame recognizes significant and lasting contributions with a lifetime achievement in support of the home building industry.
45 years in the home building industry
With nearly 45 years in the home building industry, Main put his expertise to work in all levels of membership by serving in leadership at his local, BIAW and NAHB. At his local association, the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBAKS), Main served as:
- MBAKS president in 2010;
- Member of the MBAKS Board of Directors from 1997-1998 and 2004-2012; and
- MBAKS Membership chair from 2005 to 2006.
A legacy of leadership
He remains a crucial member of the MBAKS Affordable Housing Council since joining in 2006. In his community, Main participated in over 10 Rampathon projects and served as the project manager for the Mercer Slough Environmental Center. For his dedication to his local association, Main received the MBA Builder of the Year award three times, Best Affordable Street of Dreams home twice and Green Builder of the year.
Main’s continuous contributions to BIAW are unmatched. Currently serving as Chair of the Member Services Corporation, Main also sits on the following committees and councils: Bylaws and Nominations, Legislative Policy, Past Presidents and Washington Affordable Housing. Main served as BIAW’s President in 2016 and started the tradition of visiting each local association in the state during his term, a practiced still carried on since his presidency.
Leading in Olympia and beyond
Main regularly testifies in the legislature to bring real-life perspective with his innate understanding of the challenges faced by builders and developers. Over the many years of Main’s involvement with BIAW, he fought to keep BIAW’s Association Health Plan alive at the state and federal levels. Main himself avidly recruits new members, making him a Grand Spike with 1,000 – 1,499 spike credits.
At the national level, Main served as the Washington State Representative on the Corporate Board of Directors at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in 2020 and is a long-time member of the Housing Finance Committee, State and Local Affairs Committee, a gold key participant of BUILD-PAC and a Life Trustee.
Main’s passion in his work and ability to teach and mentor those both in and out of the industry undoubtedly personifies a BIAW Hall of Fame inductee.
