Meet Certified Builder Elizabeth Gomez
October 14, 2019
This week is BIAW’s Certified Builder week. To kick off the festivities, BIAW wanted to feature our newest Certified Builder, Elizabeth Gomez.
How long have you been a Certified Builder?
It has been three months.
What is your favorite part of the Certified Builder program?
My favorite part of the Certified Builder program is that I am in great company with my peers, colleagues, and industry-leading professionals. It is an honor to be grouped among the best in the Washington State building industry. Additionally, certification through the Washington State BIA provides me with incredible professional development opportunities and valuable resources to get in front of and establish instant credibility with potential clients and industry professionals.
How long have you worked in the industry?
I have been involved in the building industry going on six years now. Previously I have held a variety of related industry positions including project management, real estate, and finance.
Did you know you wanted to be a builder when you were younger?
My love of building began as a young girl collaborating on woodworking projects with my grandfather in his workshop. Many of my fondest childhood memories were spent shadowing him on home renovation projects learning tool use, manual skills, and design basics. In high school and college, I studied several design disciplines and project management. I was always fascinated with how various specializations and trades operate within the building process from concept to completion. It was these experiences that ignited a passion for construction and design in me.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is knowing that I am working on a project that changes the quality of life for people. I leave each job with a deep sense of achievement, pride, and satisfaction. Every time I complete a project I feel proud to be a woman in the world of construction and that I can contribute to families, neighborhoods and communities.
