Mourning the loss of BIAW Director Lary Coppola

BIAW regrets to announce the passing of longtime BIAW Director and Kitsap Building Association (KBA) Director Lary Coppola. Lary passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, from complications with pancreatic cancer.

Lary served as executive director for the Port of Allyn and had over 35 years of industry experience. He was a member of BUILD-PAC and BIAW’s Legislative Policy Committee and vice chair of the Washington Affordable Housing Council (WAHC).

Before joining the Port of Allyn, Lary served as mayor and chief administrative officer for the City of Port Orchard in 2007. Before that, he served as chair and vice chair of the Kitsap County Planning Commission. He also founded Wet Apple Media, which currently publishes WestSound Magazine, and served as editor and publisher of the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal.

Over the years, Lary received numerous awards, including the KBA Associate of the Year and Elected Official of the Year. He served as a director for BIAW for over 25 years.
