Take a stand against foreign-owned companies profiting from climate change and driving up your energy bills. 

Gas and electric utilities are obligated to serve consumers as a condition of being a monopoly with guaranteed profits. HB 1589 eliminates protections for roughly 800,000 Puget Sound Energy (PSE) natural gas customers by removing PSE’s obligation to serve these customers. This means: 

• Current natural gas customers will have to convert their existing gas appliances, water heaters and furnaces to all-electric at costs of roughly $40,000.
• Higher energy bills for renters and homeowners served by PSE.
