Six ways to help protect natural gas as an energy choice

May 28, 2024

Signature gatherers for Initiative 2066 to protect natural gas as an energy choice have been hard at work over the last few weeks.

The team is working to gather more than 405,000 signatures to ensure there are enough to make it on the ballot in November. Voters across Washington have been eager to sign the initiative, frustrated by efforts to eliminate natural gas as an energy choice.

With less than six weeks to go to collect all the signatures needed, everyone who cares about this issue must get active and get signatures as quickly as possible.

Six ways to help protect natural gas as an energy choice

1.     Sign the initiative ASAP

Voters can sign the initiative at locations across Washington.

2.     Attend a “Super Signing Event” and bring all your friends and family

Last weekend, hundreds of people joined the first Super Signing Event in Shelton. Don’t worry if you missed it! There are several upcoming events you can attend:

  • June 1 from 9 am to 2 pm: Super signing event with Brandi Kruse in Bellevue (222 112th Ave NE, Bellevue)
  • June 4 from 6 to 7 pm: CenterPlace Regional Event Center (North Discovery Place, Spokane Valley)
  • June 6 at 4 pm: Washington State Capitol steps (416 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia)
  • June 8 from 9 am to 3 pm: Super signing event with John Carlson and Brian Heywood (Eastside Harley-Davidson, 2350 136th Pl NE, Bellevue)
  • June 12 from 6-7 pm: Ferndale Events Center (5715 Barrett Road, Ferndale)

3. Request copies of Initiative 2066 and help gather signatures

More than a million residents and businesses in Washington rely on natural gas as an energy choice. If each of our roughly 8,000 members gathered just 50 signatures, we’d almost meet our signature goal. Request initiative petitions here.

4.     Volunteer your business as a signing location

With so much interest in this initiative, we need signing locations all over the state. If you’re willing to host petitions at your business, please sign up ASAP.

5.     Help us with news coverage

Reporters need to hear from us. Would you be willing to join us in walking a reporter through the effects of a natural gas ban on the homebuilding industry? We’ll invite a local reporter to learn more about the importance of natural gas to our families and our businesses. All you need to do is explain why you’re supporting natural gas as an energy choice. Contact communications@BIAW.com if you’re willing to share your story!

6.     Share about the initiative on social media

Follow BIAW on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter/X and share with all your friends and family.

Time is running short! Help us protect natural gas as an energy choice today.
