State Building Code Council Needs TAG Members

Usually, the building codes go into effect in July, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BIAW requested they be pushed back. Now the building codes go into effect February 2021, but the State Building Code Council (SBCC) needs to work on the next installment of the codes starting next month. The Plumbing, Fire, Mechanical, and Commercial Building technical advisory groups (TAG) are looking for residential building representatives. This is your chance to use your expertise and real-world knowledge of building to shape the next edition of statewide codes.

The TAGs generally meet once a month for a 4-hour block. You will go over the entire code and have the ability to submit modification proposals if you deem it necessary. You can also try and block proposals that would be detrimental to the industry.
