How They Voted

Elections matter, but what matters even more is how elected officials vote once they take office. As the old adage goes, "actions speak louder than words," and that's exactly why we assess vote records: to reveal lawmakers' true priorities and values.

BIAW's Legislative Policy Committee selected 23 bills and 6 amendments that are representative of key issues impacting the residential construction industry. The votes included in this report offer insight into which policymakers supported practical, achievable housing solutions and who supported policies that continue to drive up costs, reduce housing choice, and make it harder for Washington families to achieve homeownership.
