The first aid/CPR/AED course is taught based on the Health and Safety Institute guidelines for adults, children, and infants to meet or exceed occupational first aid certification. The goal of the class is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in first aid, conventional Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Skills practice include recovery position, conventional CPR/AED, controlling severe life-threatening external bleeding, and other medical emergencies that may occur in the workplace or home to prevent needless disabling injuries, illnesses, and death. The course is 4-hours in length and digital certificates are issued upon successful completion. Certification is valid for two years. CEUs may be offered for specific programs/industries.

Francis Palatano
Francis Patalano is a Safety and Security training specialist. His multiple certifrcations in safety make him an excellent trainer in Risk awareness, Management and Risk abatement. "Chico" as he prefers to be called has had an extensive career in both the public and private sectors. He received his Baccalaureate degree from Troy State University Alabama and his Masters degree from the University of Missouri. "Chico" has amassed teaching certifications in 26 subjects including CPR/First Aid, A.E.D. Hazardous Material Handling, Bloodbome Pathogens, Security Awareness, and SCUBA Instruction to name a few. Chico is the owner operator of Heart Starts Safety Training Company. He is an adjunct instructor with the staffs of many Community and Technical colleges and acts as the subject matter expert on Safety Training and assessments for business outreach programs. He is a noted guest lecturer at many Chambers of Commerce, and other organizational meetings. His non-threatening, perfofinance oriented, training style makes for an enjoyable, relaxed and fun learning process.
