L&I recently issued a news release, outlining its efforts to educate teen workers about their rights and ways to stay safe at work this summer.The department reminds employers they must:

• Obtain permits and other required documents;
• Provide required meal and rest breaks for teens;
• Ensure teens work only the hours allowed under law;

• Avoid having teens work prohibited duties, including construction-related work such as working on or around a roof or operating powered circular and band saws.
