Where’s Washington at IBS?

The International Builders Show kicks off Feb. 25 in Las Vegas but many Washington builders and home building association staff will arrive early to take full advantage of networking, meetings and home building association business prior to the show.

Home Builders Institute Trustees Meeting

Washington Home Builders Foundation (WHBF) Director Al Audette and WHBF Fund Development Manager Raelle Vitali will be attending the Home Builders Institute Trustees Meeting Sunday, Feb. 23, from 9 am to noon.

The WHBF’s recently launched Construction Trades Training Academy uses HBI Curriculum to prepare students to join the residential home building industry workforce in Washington.

Professional Women in Building

New Professional Women in Building (PWB) councils for the Building Industry Association of Washington, the Spokane Home Builders Association and Kitsap Building Association will receive their charters at the PWB Board of Trustees Meeting. The meeting takes place from 8 to 10 am on Monday, Feb. 24 in North 103 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).

Join BIAW Past Second Vice President Luellen Smith, current president of the National Association of Home Builders’ PWB Council, and others from Washington to celebrate!

Legal Action Committee

Vice President – General Counsel Ashli Penner will join the NAHB Legal Action Committee seeking new funding to support BIAW’s efforts to defend Initiative 2066 against legal challenges in Washington state. BIAW is a leader in the nation when it comes to fighting efforts to ban natural gas.

The Legal Action Committee meets at 9 a.m. on Feb. 24.

Area 15 Caucus

BIAW State Representative Tracy Doriot join Area 15 National Area Chair Jay Roberts to share news from Washington at the Area 15 Caucus on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from noon to 2 pm in LVCC North 120. Washington is generally very well represented at the Area 15 Caucus. The association is one of the largest in the US.

Area 15 covers Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

Washington builders have been selected as finalists in a number of categories at the Best in American Living Awards – the building industry’s premier awards ceremony recognizing:
